The Laboratory

This page contains information related to the equipment we have in the laboratory.

The optical tweezers currently incorporates several pieces of equipment including:
  1. Microscope housing.
  2. A 4W IR laser, l=1064nm.
  3. Servomotor controlled microscope stage, with resolution of 0.1mm.
  4. Piezo controlled translators with resolution of 1nm.
  5. Laser Power Stabiliser.
  6. Quadrant Photodiode + amplifing circuitry (to measure position of particles).
  7. An Arbitrary waveform Generator.
  8. A PCI-DAQ to digitally acquire voltage readings from various components in the system.
  9. A CCD camera to allow real-time viewing of imagary.
  10. LabView to control the various pieces of equipment.
  11. Other standard chemistry laboratory facilities.
