Edie is trained in the multidisciplinary field of polymers. She received her B.S Chemical Engineering from University of Pittsburgh and Ph.D. in Polymer Science & Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She held postdoctoral positions at the Department of Physics, Cavendish Labs at the University of Cambridge and the Department of Chemical Engineering at University of California at Berkeley. After an initial academic position at the University of Colorado, Edie moved to ANU in 1996. She and her husband, David R.M. Williams, have two children, Maximilian and Samantha.
Genmiao received his B.S and M.S degrees from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC, major in Solid State Physics). In 1993, he came to Australia to pursue a Ph.D at the University of New South Wales (ADFA campus) in Materials Science. Since receiving his Ph.D degree, he has worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Sydney in the School of Chemistry, and at Kansas State University in the Department of Physics. Genmiao joined the PSCM group in 2000.

RP recieved his BTech and MSc from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, Chennai, India in 1993 and 1998 respectively. He completed his PhD in Chemical Engineering at Monash University, Australia, in 2005. Between 1993 and 2001 RP worked in India designing and setting up small-scale biological wastewater treatment facilities and ozonation systems for disinfecting drinking water. RP came to Australia in 2001 for his PhD. His wife, Anu Seshadri, is a software tester.
Stephen completed his BSc(Hons) degree at RMIT University, Melbourne, in 1998. He then completed his PhD in Colloidal Physics at RMIT University in 2002. Between 2002 and 2005 Stephen was a postdoctoral fellow and the University of Konstanz, Konstanz, Germany. There he worked primarily on optical tweezer systems. Stephen came ANU in late 2005 as a postdoctoral fellow.

David originally studied a combined BSc/BE (Systems) degree here at the ANU, which he completed in 2000. Following his degree he worked as a (civilian) combat systems engineer in the Aust Dept of Defence for 8 months, and at a pyrotechnics company as a pyrotechnician, production engineer and quality control officer for 7 months. David has just submitted his PhD, and is now primarily working as an experimentalist using the Optical Tweezers.
James, a New Zealander, has come to the ANU after completing honours degrees in both Law and Science at the Victoria University of Wellington. James is currently working on a PhD project involving both the PSCM and Liquid State Chemical Physics groups. He is primarily focused on applying the Fluctuation Theorem to various experimental systems.
