Research InterestsI am interested in how molecular aggregation phenomena drive macroscopic system behaviour. My doctoral work with Dr Bob Thomas at Oxford University was a study of the mixing behaviour of surfactants at the air/water interface by neutron reflectometry. I was a member of the White group from 2003 to 2006 and I worked on three main areas:
The structural studies are carried out using a combination of X-Ray and neutron small angle scattering (SAXS and SANS) and reflectometry, both in the laboratory and at large facilities such as ISIS. I am now an Instrument Scientist in the SANS group at the NIST Center for Neutron Research and a Research Associate in the Department of Materials Science at the University of Maryland . Aside from my instrument science duties, my research interests encompass the work I started during my time at the Australian National Univeristy as well as considering the behaviour of concentrated surfactant systems and the structures formed by this polymer films at interfaces - in particular Nafion. |
