WATOC 2008

Accommodation

Block Bookings

Block bookings have been made and special rates have been negotiated for a variety of hotels covering a variety of standards and price ranges. The selected hotels are located conveniently (see map) with respect to the venue for WATOC 2008, the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre (SCEC). Please book your accommodation when registering. Accommodation blocks will be released back to the hotels on July 14, 2008. After this time, the negotiated accommodation rates cannot be guaranteed.

Deposit

Accommodation reservations will only be accepted if accompanied by a minimum deposit of one night’s accommodation or a credit card guarantee (see below). The remainder of the account will need to be settled in full upon departure from the hotel. Alternatively, you may pre-pay your accommodation in full if you prefer.

Credit Card Guarantee

Your accommodation can be guaranteed by providing credit card details. These will be forwarded to the hotel to secure your reservation.

Change of Reservation

Prior to 12 September 2008, any alterations to your accommodation reservation must be made to the Conference Secretariat in writing. After this time, please contact the relevant hotel directly but also advise the Conference Secretariat of the change as soon as possible.

Cancellation Charges

Any cancellation charges imposed by accommodation providers will be payable by the participant.

Budget Hotels

Some budget hotels do not accept block bookings. A selection of budget hotels is listed immediately after the Congress hotels, but it will be necessary for interested participants to book directly with these hotels. Prices given are estimates and will need to be confirmed directly with the hotel.

Sharing

Some participants may wish to share hotel rooms because the cost per room is often the same for one or two people in a twin (two bed) room (or for four people in a four bed room at the Formule One Hotel). It is best if this can be arranged directly between the participants but if assistance is required to organise such sharing, this can be indicated on the registration/accommodation form.

Special Requirements

Please indicate on your registration form if you have any special accommodation requirements.

Rates

Although the negotiated rates represent significant discounts from normal rates, it is possible that lower hotel prices may be available from various "last minute" internet discount sites closer to the dates of the Congress. However, it is not certain that there would be availability for your first-choice hotels at that time. September is generally a very busy time in Sydney and early reservations are recommended.

Enquiries

If you have questions regarding accommodation, please contact the Congress Manager (Jane Yeaman).
