Chemsoc is a new site for chemists and the home of the international chemistry societiesŐ electronic network. There is a great deal of information available at this site, from an Information Arcade, and a Chembytes magazine (with a Careers on the Web section), to a Conference and Events listing section.

There has been a problem with chafing of heater wires on late model RET Basics in the low-profile blue metal case with two flat plastic knobs at the front. If the wires are stripped bare the top metal plate could become live.

We have modified and made safe all those we have been able to find, but there could still be some we donŐt know about. When you next have the opportunity please check underneath and if you donŐt see a paper label with "Heater Wires and Earth Lead Done" bring it down to us for checking.
